12 HOUR NIGHT SWIMMING CHALLENGE
D2D is a 12-hr swimming challenge where individuals/groups will get a chance to swim for 12 hrs. The event starts in the evening and ends early morning, so it is a night swim. Although it is a challenge, you don’t need to be a competitive swimmer to participate – people of all abilities can join in and take part.
Rules & Regulation (for all event categories)
One swimmer can take part in only one relay team
A swimmer can take part in 4 hr solo and 1 relay
Swimmers will be swimming in a lane. Each lane will be shared, each swimmer has to stay on the left-hand side of the lane and swim in the clockwise direction. Lane allocation will be done at the organizer's discretion.
1 lap = 2 lengths of a 50m pool (100mts), out and back.
Pulling on the lane rope is not allowed.
Some part of the swimmer must touch the wall upon completion of each length of the pool and at the finish. Flip turns are allowed
Lane discipline rules.
Stay left – try to swim as close to the lane rope as possible to allow for anyone faster to overtake you.
Overtaking – Overtaking is to be done from the right of the swimmer in front. When overtaking ensure you continue to swim within the left side of the lane (never swim so wide that you swim into a swimmer from the oncoming lane!). Once you are well in front of the slower swimmer move back to the left side of the lane in front of them. If you are the swimmer being overtaken remain to the left of the lane as much as possible. Hold your line (and speed!).
Turning etiquette – as you approach the end of the lane and the wall, move right so you turn as close to the right side of the lane as possible.
Some part of the swimmer must touch the wall upon completion of each length of the pool and at the finish. Flip turns are allowed.
